You’re not looking for a project
You’re looking for a different way of living
CAS Studio designs projects rooted in nature, built with real materials,
shaped around how you want to live – not around a template.
What it looks like when concept, design, and execution align.
We Know What Keeps You Up at Night
What if I choose the wrong architect?
Most architects show you their portfolio and hope you trust them. We start differently: a 15-minute conversation to see if we’re aligned before anything else. No pitch. No pressure. Just clarity.
What if I end up with something generic?
We don’t do templates. We don’t do trends. Every project starts with your land, your life, and a question: what does this place want to become? The result isn’t a style — it’s inevitable.
What if the process is confusing and I lose control?
You’ll know exactly where we are at every stage. From first concept to final walk through, we work with you — not for you. You’re not hiring a service. You’re choosing a partner.
How It Works (from your side)
1. The conversation
We start by listening. What draws you to this land? How do you want mornings to feel? What matters more — light or warmth? Privacy or openness? This isn’t a brief. It’s a conversation about how you want to live.
2. The concept
We translate your vision into a concept rooted in your site — its orientation, its materials, its relationship to what’s around it. You’ll see sketches, drawings, and 3D visuals before anything is built. Nothing moves forward until it feels right.
3. The execution
We work with local builders who understand these materials. Wood, earth, cork, lime, stone — each chosen for your specific project, not from a catalogue. You’ll be involved at every decision point. No surprises.
4. The completion
We supervise until the final detail is in place. Then we hand over — not just a building, but a building that will age beautifully.

The Makers
From Clients Who Took The Leap
“Alina and Paulo are incredible. We’ve worked with them for over a year to turn our dream sustainable build in Northern Portugal into a reality.
They helped us find novel solutions for rain water collection and water purification, sourced beautiful local materials (ceramic, wood, stone), and went above and beyond liaising with local authorities and the developer to ensure the project went smoothly. “
Kelli Hogan
“We started the project seeking a place with a genuinely low energy and environmental impact where we could eventually make a home. The setting at Ouriçal, the river, and the landscape around Arouca felt like exactly the right place to try to do that well.
CAS deeply understood the site. The knowledge of local materials, the attention to climate and energy, and the way the design honestly grew out of those concerns rather than being imposed on them — all made the whole thing feel meaningful. Thanks to their thoughtful approach, we went from an F to a B energy rating — something we’re genuinely proud of.
Paulo and Alina also really wanted to understand how we actually wanted to live there, how our family would use the space, and what we cared about. That made a real difference.
They took time and care on the smallest details as well as on the larger interventions — helping select some beautiful tiles, light fittings, etc., in addition to creating structural and spatial changes that transformed the house’s potential.
The process felt genuinely collaborative — like we were all on the same side, working toward something we’d all be proud of. Being in the UK while the project was in Portugal, we relied on CAS enormously to navigate contractors, local authorities, and the whole process, and they were advocates for us and for the design throughout. We came away feeling like we’d been part of something special, on a very special site.”

What Clients Usually Ask?
What budgets do your clients usually work?
Our work is typically suited to projects with construction budgets starting from €250,000–300,000, depending on scope and complexity. We focus on long-term value, durability and craftsmanship rather than lowest-cost solutions.
Do you take on partial projects or only full architectural services?
We work through a complete architectural process: from concept design and regulatory coordination with local authorities to tender documentation, construction detailing and site supervision. This integrated approach ensures design integrity, technical quality and consistency from first sketch to completion.
Do you offer free consultations?
We offer a 15-minute introductory call to assess alignment. Strategic or feasibility analysis is provided through a structured paid consultation.
Do you accept many projects at the same time?
We intentionally work with a limited number of projects per year to ensure full involvement and quality.
What materials do you work with?
We design and build primarily with natural and bio-based materials such as stone, timber, lime, earth, cork and plant-based fibres.
Do you work with imported prefab kit houses?
No. Sustainability is local. We work with local builders and real materials, not foreign kits pretending to be sustainable.
Can you work remotely with international clients?
Yes. Most of our clients are relocating from abroad. We manage the process end to end with local contractors and our network of trusted engineers and consultants. Clear communication. One point of contact. Less stress.
How early should we contact you?
The earlier the better. We help shape feasibility, land selection and budget alignment from the start.
We take on 4-6 projects per year. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you.
